"Drive" is a song by American singer Miley Cyrus and served as the lead single off her debut studio album, Bangerz (2018). It was released on December 8, 2017 via Shadow Records. It was written by Cyrus, Mike Will Made-It & Sam Hook, Chris "TEK" O'Ryan and Miley Cyrus produced the track.

Drive peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Miley Cyrus' first top ten single on the chart. The song also peaked within the top 10 in the United Kingdom, and Australia. The song peaked within the top 15 in Canada, France, Germany and Brazil.

The song was considered and submitted for "Best Pop Solo Performance" at the 2019 GRAMMYs but didn't receive a nomination.

Background and release[]

After having a succesful career as a teen idol as Hannah Montana in her early Disney Channel days, Miley Cyrus took another route and decided to take a break. In November of 2017 the news broke the internet that Miley Cyrus has worked and finished her debut album and was ready to start a career in the music world.

Miley Cyrus revealed via Twitter on December 7, 2017 that her debut single, Drive, was being released on December 8, 2017. The announcement made some headlines on Twitter as "#DriveTomorrow" started to become trending on Twitter Worldwide Trending Page.

The single was released for digital download on December 7, 2017.

Promotion[]

Promotion for the debut solo single of Miley Cyrus was not so heavy within the first weeks. To say the least, the promotion for the single wasn't as heavy as all the follow-up singles after.

Even though the song wasn't heavily promoted, it still went on to sell ovef 5,000,000 copies in the United States making it RIAA certified 5x Platinum in the United States and sold over 8,1000,000+ copies worldwide. The song received 577M+ views on VEVO (music video + lyric video) and received over 425M+ streams on Spotify.
