"Crying in the Club" is the debut solo single by Cuban-American singer Camila Cabello, released on July 19, 2019. It was written by Cabello, Cashmere Cat and Benny Blanco and produced by Max Martin. The song samples Christina Aguilera's "Genie in A Bottle". The song peaked at X on the Billboard Hot 100.

Background and release[]

After leaving the girl-group Fifth Harmony in December of 2016, Cabello started working on her solo music, with having no label, she started working in her own home. News broke in 2017 that she signed to Shadow Records, a label home to Miley Cyrus and Rita Ora.

After singing the record deal, she could finally work on the music she wanted to, Cabello confessed in an interview that Crying in the Club was the third song she recorded for her upcoming debut solo studio album.

On February 28, 2019, Cabello started teasing her solo music on Twitter with teasing some of the lyrics of her solo music. After that, she went in to silence on any social media and even paparazzi couldn't capture photos of her. After months of not knowing anything, news broke on July 16 that she would release Crying in the Club on July 19, 2019.

The single was released for digital download on July 19, 2019 via Shadow Records.

Promotion[]

In the first week of the release, the song was promoted on Z100 New York, The Ellen Show and more. She also had a Billboard Cover on July 20, 2019 and the song was performed on the 2019 Video Music Awards in July 21, 2019.
